The illustrator of this book, Dinosaur Roar by Stickland, did a great job. Each double spread contains cute character-filled dinosaurs. Roaring and squeaking dinosaurs. Strong and weak dinosaurs. But it is on the backcover that our favorite dinosaur is drawn. Favorite, and important, because it is SLEEPING. This sleeping conclusion has caught Tyler's attention. "Shhh!" he says each time we end the book. "Shhh!" he say each time he sees the book. When bedtime comes he makes sure that the book is placed, backcover up, on the small table in his room. That placement assures that he can see it from his crib. As we walk out of the room, he predictably points to it and repeats "Shhh!" Then as prompted by the sleeping illustration, he lays still and falls asleep! Ah, thank you backcover for helping our nighttime routine be less painful. (If only that potbellied dinosaur would work to get the girls to lay still at bedtime. I'd enlarge it wall size and frame it in their room, for sure!)
