I left the title simple. Could have written: "What the Kids chose" or "The Witch's Menagerie." That could help explain our costume process this year.
Come costume planning time, I had visualized three little gnomes lined up. Wouldn't that have accentuated Ty's cute belly just right?! Wouldn't cute sewn skirts and suspenders have been a good reminder of the Gnomeo movie both girls currently LOVE? Well, when Meg said she didn't want to wear a pointy hat, I couldn't convince all three of my idea. So, onto the next ideaS - settling on Meg wanting to be a witch. A classical witch. Now, what could the others be to compliment her, she wondered? Together, the girls decided that Paige could be her cat. Paige finding a cat mask in the holiday aisle sealed the plan. Now Tyler? What else goes with a witch? They didn't know. Maybe he could be her pot? No! A frog from the costume box? No. No, because he kept loudly "ROAR"ing. He had in mind a dragon I had shown him on the computer. Each time I'd pull it up as an option, he'd literally jump around and roar. Each time I'd show another option he'd distinctly shake his head in the negative. Turns out he was just as insistent as the oldest!
So, when it came time to put on the official Halloween costumes, this year, I had a crew that had carefully picked their own look. The pointy-hat witch. The cat side-kick. And, the roaring dragon! A pretty cute lineup!
