Visiting: Look-alikes Bntfl and Timp

Knowing the weather would be beautiful, we headed out to visit some temple grounds yesterday. This time to Utah's two look-alikes: Bountiful and Mount Timpanogos. Built one year after the other (Bntfl dedicated in 1995, Timp 1996), Timp's floor plan was adapted from the Bountiful's.

Starting up the hill, we visited the temple most familiar to us. We see it all the time from a distance, but most often the gates are closed when we drive by on random Sundays. Thankfully the gates were open this time and we could follow the kids onto the grounds (because come to find out all three could and would sneak in and out through the metal posts!).
After skirting around many wedding groups, we quietly made a loop around the building. Paige took the chance to touch the walls.

Meg took the unusual chance to peek through an open back door. Her eager peek was greeted by a temple worker's smile. Both girls were amazed with how "beautiful!" the staircase was. I hope that they have the chance to realize for themselves one day, that that small corner holds nothing to the full rooms inside.

We attempted to pose as a full family. Some shots worked better than others.

All of us in front of East golden doors. We snuck in a quick shot between approaching brides. I was happy to be there gathered with my little ones...at this point of life...past the cheesy formal poses...eight and a half years later!

Meg and Paige posing alone. The perfect pictures to copy and paste into small temple passports we've picked up (at Deseret Book) to record each visit we're making.

Always at an angle:

The morning was beautiful (You'll notice I use that description many times during this). Spring flowers in bloom. Blue skies overhead.

Packing back into the car, we made an hour's drive down South. We wound through residential streets to find the Mount Timpanogos temple. Once parked and within the gates, it was surprisingly quiet and serene! The stain glass windows, especially, seemed to shine!

Candy necklaces provided an energy boost and a way to keep mouths quietly busy as we toddled around the grounds.

A beautifully full tulip garden served as a picture-perfect backdrop.

Including a shot proceeded by, "I've got to show that you were here, too, Sarah."
More singles of the touring girls.

And of Ty, the boy determined to walk the entire perimeter of the circle planter box!

A great Saturday morning. A peaceful break with the family. Only two trips in, I am LOVING this challenge to visit each Utah temple! I know we also need to set the priority of getting inside more often, but being at the young-family stage, I am finding that even just being near offers peace and joy.
